Our first day will take us East of Perth to areas around York known for wildflowers and orchids. We will stop in York itself to look at the historic buildings and capture the essence of the town. We will drive on to Quairading which is our first night's stop firstly exploring a nature reserve before we head out to our astro location on a nearby lake. The lake has many dead trees in the shallows which will give us some interesting foreground interest and the lake itself, reflects the Milky Way especially when there is no wind.

On day two we will continue towards Hyden and Wave Rock, stopping along the way, if it is safe to do so, if we see something of photographic interest before arriving at Hyden to photograph some local sculptures.  We should arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon walk along the base of Wave Rock from Hippo's Yawn. We will then head to our accommodation to check in and settle in. After dinner we will go to the foot of Wave Rock to photograph the night sky and then to a second location near our accommodation where there is a rusty car which makes for great foreground interest with the Milky Way.

Day three: We return the Perth via the Tin Horse Highway, which shows Australian country humour and ingenuity, 70 or more horse sculptures made of oil drums and scrap metal either side of the town of Kulin, home to an annual bush horse race. We will stop at other points if time allows before arriving back in Midland by approx 6 pm.

The tour is lead by professional photographer Anna-Mair Francis who will be on hand to give you instruction so that you can get some great images over the weekend. This tour is suitable for any level of photographer with any camera.
