There are 2 options, join us for Days 1-5 for the Karijini section flying in an out of Paraburdoo or you could fly into Exmouth on June 26th ready to join us for Days 6-9 for the Ningaloo Reef section.
Day 1: Having flown from Perth (flight departs Perth13.30) to Paraburdoo Airport (at your own cost), we will be met by our expert Karijini guide from The Flying Sandgropers who will be looking after us for the week. They have years of knowledge of the area along with a comfortable 4WD bus. Their bush camp in the National Park offers us comfortable tented accommodation with single camp beds in either a private tent* (high enough to stand it) or a shared cabin style tent which has 3 separate sections each with their own entry. The camp has its own ablution block and although has no mains electricity, there will be generated power available at certain times for us to recharge our camera batteries. We will enjoy a welcome dinner together at the bush camp before turning in to get a good night’s sleep before the real adventure begins. D
Day 2-4: During the next 3 days we will be captivated by the natural beauty of Karijini National Park with its red rocks, contrasting ghost gum trees, beautiful wildflowers and its lush green water holes and will explore many of the gorgeous gorges including Hancock, Kalamina, Dale gorge with the beautiful Fortescue Falls and tranqual Fern Pool and last but not least, the spectacular Hamersley Gorge and Spa Pool. Hancock Gorge is a narrow gorge cut by a creek which leading to natural amphitheatre and Kermit Pool. Kalamina Gorge is perhaps the most picturesque of the locations we will visit, a photographers dream, with it's waterfall, ferns and ghost gums around a permament water hole. The photographic opportunities we will find are endless, we will find our senses overloaded with colour, light, shadow, reflections and beauty of nature.
In addition, our campsite is in a total dark sky area and we have especially chosen the tour dates so that there will be no moon visible so we will be able to include Astroscape photography most evening if we have no cloud. BLD
Day 5: Having made a quick pit stop in Tom Price for supplies, we will head out West traveling through some rugged county. We will make a stop for lunch at your own cost at Nanutarra Roadhouse. We will be traveling much of the day to reach to our home for the next 2 nights, the quirky Bullara Station. Bullara is a working cattle station and has many photographic opportunities from animals to rusting cars. Our accommodation will be spread between The Shearers' Lodge which has been renovated into lovely comfortable accommodation with shared bathroom facilities and the Outcamp which has single ensuite rooms. Bullara has a variety of ablution blocks including several 'outdoor' showers in which a wood burner heats the water. If you shower during daylight hours, you'll need sunglasses and at night you are under the stars. BD
Day 6: We will head up through Exmouth and out to Cape Range National Park to explore the stunning gorges contained there and the natural wonders of Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area. This area is home to many animals and birds including osprey. If the conditions are right, we hope to watch sunset at the historic Vlamingh Head Lighthouse before heading back to Bullara for our final meal with our Flying Sandgroper guide. BLD
Day 7-9: Our guide will drive us to our new accommodation close to the beach in Coral Bay. We will be staying in villas close to the beach and central to everything in Coral Bay. Our Villas have 2 or 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. We have the next 3 days 2 nights to explore the beautiful Coral Bay with our camera as well as some free time if you want relax, swim or head out on a manta ray cruise or beach buggies (at your own cost) before photographing sunset on the beach. We hope to include a scenic flight over the Ningaloo Coast*.
Day 9: June 30th we will head out for a dawn shoot on the beach before breakfast and checking out of our accommodation. The morning's itinerary will depend on the times of your return flights from Learmouth and shuttle bus times.
This tour will require a moderate level of fitness, there are some gorges which will require us to do some small areas of rock scrambling, waddling through water and swimming about 30 metres. Our expert guide will be there to advise us of the safest routes through these areas. Swimming aids can be made available.
Our price includes all accommodation from June 22nd-30th (tented accommodation at bush camp night 1-4, single ensuite or twin or family non ensuite rooms on Bullara Station and shared villa with it's own bathroom in Coral Bay); all meals (except for lunch at the roadhouse on day 5), water, tea and coffee; all entry costs for included locations; transport from Paraburdoo Airport and shuttle from Coral Bay to Learmouth Airport; transport and expert guide with the Flying Sandgropers and photographic input from Capture the Light Photographic Tours.
Note: If you require your own tent/room a single supplement* will apply (in Coral Bay you will be sharing the villa so therefore the bathroom with other members of the group)
